Editorial: Last Week to Register to Vote
To vote on Election Day, you must be registered at your current address no later than Oct. 15, 2012. Registered voters should have received a new voter card in the mail by now. You can check your registration status online by visiting the State Board of Elections website at www.sbe.virginia.gov. There you can also download a voter registration form and mail or fax it to your elections office address.

The Herndon Town Council has approved a resolution adopting a brand identity for the town that, in the words of the resolution, will further the growth of the town’s commercial sector as well as its desirability as a place to live and visit.
Letter: Unfair Tolls
I am against increasing the tolls on the Dulles Toll Road; particularly the plans proposed to use those tolls to finance Metro's Silver Line. It is unfair and appears to be targeted at a particular segment of people who happen to commute daily on the Toll Road or businesses that employ folks in the area.

Sanda Blake Wins People’s Choice Award
rtSpace Herndon and the Council for the Arts of Herndon have announced the People’s Choice Award winner from the "At Home in Herndon: 2012 Town Calendar Photography Exhibit" featuring photographs depicting seasonal or community events, people and places in Herndon. Herndon Celebrates Arts Week

The Council for the Arts of Herndon will host Arts Week in Herndon taking advantage of a holiday week to feature all kinds of local art. Starting Monday, Oct. 8 and going through Saturday, Oct. 13, there will be events all over town, featuring artists, live music and classes for people of all ages and interests.
Herndon High Hosts Band Competition

The stadium at Herndon High was packed Saturday with friends and family attending the 16th Annual Virginia’s Showcase of Bands. Twenty-six high school marching bands from across northern Virginia and Maryland competed throughout the day Saturday, with the larger bands performing Saturday evening.

Collecting ‘Bikes for the World’
Senthil Kannan, Boy Scout Troop 1983, completed his Eagle Scout Project. With the help of Yvette Hess and Keith Oberg from Bikes for the World and over 25 volunteers, a total of 77 bikes were collected.
