Four Brave Girls Take Immediate Action to Help a Friend in Distress
One year ago, on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, during their lunch hour at Fox Mill Elementary School in Herndon, four fourth grade Junior Girl Scouts jumped to the aid of their classmate as she found herself choking on a piece of food. Using the skills that they had just learned a few months prior, in a First Aid class they attended with other Junior Troop’s members from Fox Mill, the four girl scouts (ages 9 and 10) immediately jumped into action.

Europa isn’t new. It’s just new to Herndon. The Mediterranean restaurant, operated by the Fuentes family, moved from Tall Oaks Village Center and found a home on Station Street.

Her address, “Reclaiming Grace in the Face of Adversity," will aim "to highlight the issues of community, character, and diversity in America."
Grace Han Wolf Appointed to Park Authority
Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust has appointed a replacement for Park Authority Board Member Richard “Rip” Sullivan who resigned effective Dec. 11, naming as his replacement Grace Han Wolf, who assumes the post as of Dec. 12, 2014. Sullivan’s resignation comes on the heels of his recent election to the Virginia General Assembly where he will serve as Virginia State Delegate for the 48th District.

Herndon Hosts Turkey Trot

Residents from communities surrounding Herndon attended the annual Herndon Turkey Trot 5K on Saturday, Nov. 22. Over 1,100 runners, eight elementary school running groups, 50 plus volunteers, Town of Herndon staff, and many local and national sponsors contributed to the success of the race.

Despite cool weather, the Town of Herndon residents and members of the Herndon Rotary Club assembled at downtown Herndon for the dedication and unveiling of the Rotary Club of Herndon’s first Little Free Library on Saturday, Nov. 15. The Little Free Library is a neighbor-to-neighbor sharing of books, and was made possible with the support of local businesses and the Rotary Club of Herndon

Community Gardens for Herndon
County will hold public meeting for possible garden plots.
Barbara Welsh wants to see a community garden in Herndon. The Herndon Environmental Network (HEN) vice president has been working for the past two years to allow community garden plots in town. County Park Authority will hold a meeting on Dec. 1 to find out if the rest of the community does, too.
Trick or Treat So Others May Eat
Girl Scout Troop 6747, of Herndon, braved the cold and wind on Nov. 2 to "Trick or Treat So Others May Eat." The girls wore their Halloween costumes and went door to door collecting can foods that will be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank.
