Friday Night Live, the Herndon outdoor concert series concluded on Aug. 22 with performances by bands Almost Journey and The Fuzz. “We have had a great year so far for Friday Night Live,” said founder Doug Downer. “This was our 20th season and we have tried to do a little something special every night and the fans seemed to really appreciate it. We had a great music lineup this year and featured a lot of bands that you rarely get a chance to see play, especially for free.”

Friday music will continue with Herndon Hospitality Association's JamBrew concert series. “This is the Herndon Hospitality Association's fifth year of doing concerts on the Town Green,” stated former Herndon Vice Mayor Connie Hutchison. “The JamBrew concert series features local musicians and their original music. We will be doing six events.” The free JamBrew concerts start Friday, Aug. 29 and then each Friday night in September (Sept 5, 12, 19, & 26). “We are adding an all day Oktoberfest, or 'Oktobrewfest' as our committee likes to refer to it on Saturday, Sept. 27 from noon - 10 p.m. with 8 bands and 8 brews.”

“Each year it has gotten a little bit bigger,” said Jay Hutchison, a resident of Herndon and musician. “It gets more people interested into coming to Herndon,” said Hutchison. The first band to perform with JamBrew on Aug. 29 will be Jonny Grave and The Tombstones. The band playing on Sept. 5 will be The Morrison Brothers Band. Sept. 12th will feature Justin Trawick and The Common Good.
